Inside the Brand: Ginger + Liz, Your Nail Prayers Answered!

by

It’s not uncommon to hear of people having allergic reactions when test-driving new polishes. Why? Unfortunately some beauty brands often include harsh chemicals in their formulas that can prove to be harmful. Luckily Ginger Johnson and Liz Pickett have answered our prayers. The beautiful duo are the creators/owners of Ginger + Liz Colour Collection, a vegan and non-toxic nail lacquer brand. In addition to non-toxic and 5-FREE nail lacquers, the brand also offers hand toning crèmes and lip scrubs. Learn more about Ginger + Liz.

Tell us the Ginger and Liz story. How did the brand get its start?
Ginger + Liz Colour Collection is the popular brand of vegan friendly and toxin-free nail lacquer with a devoted base of style setting customers and celebrity fans.

We are girlfriends that bonded 10 years ago over all things beauty, with a particular love for nail lacquer.  We also made a strong connection over our personal journeys to becoming vegan and vegetarian and how it positively affected our overall health and beauty regime.  We had an “aha” moment one afternoon in 2009 while chatting about the lack of opaque cremes, vivid brights and cool nudes to compliment our skin tones offered by the nail polishes we used. That very day the concept of our vegan-friendly and toxin free nail lacquer line was born and nearly one year later, Ginger+ Liz Colour Collection was launched!

What ingredients or properties make your product especially effective or unique?
Our nail lacquer formulas are free of harsh chemicals and carcinogens like toluene, formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, camphor also know as BIG 5 FREE. We pride ourselves on being the original vegan friendly nail lacquer that uses the safest ingredients on the market.   In 2015 we expanded our product offerings with the launch of our Hand Toning Creme with tamanu oil and our 100% natural Pout Polish sugar lip scrub.  Our hand creme is free of parabens, sulfates, synthetic color, cocamide dea & paraffin (mineral) oil, gluten-Free, vegan Friendly, not tested on animals and made in the USA – not to mention has Tamanu Oil which our Power 5 ingredient because it tones, heals, hydrates, regenerates, and protects from natural sun exposure.

Why does a woman need your product in her skin care routine?
Women should include Ginger + Liz into their beauty routine because like skin, nail beds are porus and should be treated with tender loving care.  Using our product, which is free of all harmful toxins including the “big 5”, will help lessen the exposure to chemicals that can easily seep in the body via the nail beds. Also, women are on the go more than ever and need a nail product that speaks to this lifestyle. That is why we’ve formulated our nail color to be long lasting, fast drying and chip resistant – perfect for the woman who want to look good and fast!  She should also absolutely include our Hand Toning Creme with tamanu oil because of the natural healing and toning properties in tamanu oil.  Our hand creme is great for anyone that wants supple, softer hands.  It is gentle and hypo allergenic, safe for those with skin conditions like eczema.  And, if she’s a regular user of lipsticks, especially matte shades, our Pout Polish will help bring dry chapped lips back to life!

What’s in the pipelines in 2016 for the brand?
In 2016 we will continue to expand our product offerings with the addition of lip color.
